Two injured in serious crash

Chatham-Kent police continue to investigate a serious crash involving a motorcycle.

Emergency crews were called to a collision on Selton Line, between Kenesserie Road and Victoria Road, just after noon on Sunday.

According to police, a motorcycle travelling east on Selton Line crossed over into the westbound lane and hit another vehicle head-on.

The westbound vehicle went off the roadway and came to rest in a cornfield, police said, adding that the driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The 48-year-old motorcyclist from Windsor was taken to hospital with critical, but not non-life-threatening injuries.

Man wanted in stabbing surrenders to police

After several weeks on the CK police most wanted list, Kodin Young has been arrested.

The 21-year-old was wanted in connection to a stabbing that took place in downtown Chatham on July 6.

The victim in the case was taken to hospital for treatment and continues to recover at home.

Police said that Young turned himself in to police just after 8 p.m. on Sunday.

He has been charged with aggravated assault and was held in police custody pending a bail hearing.

Assault suspect turns himself in

A Harwich Township man has been arrested and charged with assault with a weapon after turning himself in to Chatham-Kent police.

Police said the 32-year-old surrendered himself shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.

He was wanted following a disturbance the day before.

According to police, a verbal argument between a man and a woman on Saturday afternoon escalated when the man struck the woman with a glass vase.

The woman was injured during the attack.

24-year-old arrested for b-and-e

Chatham-Kent police arrested a 24-year-old Raleigh Township man after a short foot chase early Monday morning.

Police responded to a gas station on St. Clair Street just before 4 a.m. due to the security alarm.

Through video surveillance, a man was observed breaking the glass to get into the building. Police said the man stole some cigarettes once he got inside.

Officers found the man near the gas station and after a short foot chase, the suspect was arrested.

The man has been charged with break-and-enter and wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence.

Police make multiple impaired driving arrests

A 43-year-old London man has been charged with refusal/failure to provide a breath sample and impaired driving following a single-vehicle crash.

Emergency crews responded to Queens Line at the Highway 401 access point in Tilbury over the weekend following a vehicle rollover.

When police arrived, police believed the man to be under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.

He was taken to police headquarters for further testing and was later released with conditions and a future court date.

A 38-year-old Chatham man is facing a number of driving charges after police said they spotted him speeding along McNaughton Avenue.

The driver was seen just before 1:30 a.m. on Monday. Officers pulled the man over on Woods Street and arrested him as they believed him to be under the influence of alcohol.

The suspect was taken to OPP headquarters in Chatham for further testing.

Police also determined that the man had been prohibited from driving for a similar incident on June 27.

He is facing charges including impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit, and operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.

London woman arrested on outstanding warrants

Chatham-Kent police arrested a 60-year-old woman following a disturbance call.

Just after 7 p.m. on Sunday, police responded to Richmond Street in Chatham where they found the woman with a man she was banned from seeing.

During the investigation, officers found that the woman was wanted on several warrants and had court conditions prohibiting her from communicating in person or being within 25 metres of the man.

The woman was arrested and faces charges including assaulting a police officer, failing to attend court, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
