Provincial police say the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 401 are closed in Tilbury after a series of crashes.
The eastbound lanes are closed at Queen's Line and will likely remain closed for some time.
"Expect the highway to be closed for a long time to facilitate clean up. Consider staying home if you don't have to travel today," the West Region OPP said in a post to social media on Thursday morning.
Elgin OPP have also shut down the westbound lanes of the 401 at Orford Rd. near Highgate. The highway is closed until Kent Bridge Rd. in Chatham-Kent.
The OPP have also closed off the westbound lanes of the 401 at Furnival Road near Rodney due to a transport truck collision. There are injuries being reported.
Police are urging people to stay off the roadways if possible.
